EPA backs away from conclusion in draft fracking report

A final Environmental Protection Agency report on the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water may be getting more attention for what it doesn’t say than what it does.

The agency on Tuesday backed away from its conclusion in a 2015 draft version of the report that it found no evidence of widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water from fracking.

But it did reiterate its earlier finding that such impacts occur in some cases.
